Teacher Tuesday Faculty Highlight – Sonja Rowhani
“Regard man as a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. Education can, alone, cause it to reveal its treasures, and enable mankind to benefit there from.” ~ Baha’u’llah
My contributions at Nancy Campbell Academy are rooted and inspired by the above quote from sacred writings and has been the guiding principle of my life.
My academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Statistics. Winner of the prestigious Northern Life Gold Medal for the student with the highest graduating average in any statistics program. I have also completed a Master of Science in Computer Science. My thesis is entitled: Designing Mathematical Mindtools. At the crossroads of computer science, mathematics and education, it examines how well-designed human-computer interfaces and interaction design can support thinking, understanding and learning.
One of the most significant areas of education is motherhood. Mothers are the first educators. I am a mother of three wonderful children full of potential, our dear son (15), and two lovely daughters (14 and 11). Our son is a current student at NCA. He chose NCA after attending one day virtually! He enjoyed the atmosphere, the obvious dedication and engagement of teachers, administration and students alike. Our middle daughter is looking forward to joining NCA soon.
As Vice Principal, I am also happy to remain in the classroom part-time teaching science and math. I am looking forward to building and extending the Computer Science program.
